On Wednesday evening, September 25, the critically acclaimed drama Blackstone, which is set on a fictional First Nations reserve in Canada, returns to Aboriginal Peoples Televition Network.
The cast is once again an all-star team of Canadian Native actors, and a balance of accomplished veterans and up-and-comers. Those returning include Carmen Moore, Eric Schweig, Michelle Thrush, Nathaniel Arcand, Steven Cree Molison, Andrea Menard, Justin Rain, Ashley Callingbull, Trevor Duplessis, Ray G. Thunderchild, Bernard Starlight, Julian Black Antelope, and Tantoo Cardinal. "The level of talent on this series is exceptional," says executive producer and director Ron E. Scott, "it may be our most explosive season yet."
The series deals with crime and corruption on the rez -- a seamy side of Native life that isn't always acknowledged. "It's hard hitting and touches on all of the socioeconomic problems that we have on the reserves," Schweig, who plays the Tony Soprano-esque male lead, told ICTMN as season 2 was getting underway. "It is up front and it is brutally honest. People either love it or they hate it and that's what you want."
Blackstone airs Wednesdays at 9 PM ET on APTN East and APTN HD, and Wednesdays at 9 PM MT. On APTN North, Blackstone airs Saturday nights at 11:30 PM CT. For more information, visit Blackstone's page at APTN.ca and the show's stand-alone official site, blackstonetheseries.com.
