A man accused of drinking so much he passed out on top of his infant son, suffocating him, is charged with negligent homicide. Police were called to a Poplar home June 22 after neighbors reported the 8-week-old boy was not breathing. The father, Elmer Sterling Red Eagle II, has been arraigned in Fort Peck Tribal Court. The FBI conducted an investigation, but no federal charges were filed. Red Eagle was released after posting bail. A trial date has not been set.
