App for Premier Issue of Indian Country Magazine Now Available in iTunes
ICT editorial team
The first issue of Indian Country magazine is now available via an iTunes app. Having achieved the milestone of receiving approval to be sold on the Apple’s app store, Indian Country magazine is now available for reading on the iPad and subscriptions are available in the more than 230 countries served by iTunes newsstand around the world. This publishing breakthrough for Indian Country Media Network ensures stories and narratives that speak to the heart of today’s American Indians and First Nations peoples will be disseminated more widely than ever before. The Indian Country app adds a considerable dimension to the exposure for the talented writers, artists and reporters who contribute to the magazine.
The app itself presents each issue in a custom-crafted format that feels as if you’re holding the magazine in your hands—except this magazine is interactive and saturated with images. The first issue of the magazine boasts of such fantastic narratives as Mary Annette Pember’s ancient Native remains grave-robbing investigation, This Is Where They Dug Up My Friends; West Coast Editor Valerie Taliman’s profile of the magnificent Grant Sisters, “the only Indian trick-riders in the world,” who accomplished amazing things in and out of the saddle; and graphic novelist Marty Two Bulls’ Winter Count: Tunksila, an artistic retelling of the Lakota origin story. Readers have also thrilled to see the many native uses of Echinacea; a close look at Shoshone flint-knapping; hand-crafted drums and so much more. Take a look at the new bi-monthly magazine, with exclusive content not available on our free news site, and see what has subscribers buzzing. Plus, with every purchase and subscription you’ll be supporting independent, Native media at a time when propaganda and fake news must be combatted at every turn!
