Jim Northrup, the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa author, playwright, poet and upholder of Ojibwe traditions and language, walked on due to complications from kidney cancer on August 1. The prodigious and award-winning writer penned several books and a syndicated column, among many other works, and a documentary was made about his life.
