The 2015 Protecting Tribal Families Golf Fundraiser was held April 23, at the Twin Warriors Golf Club in Santa Ana Pueblo, N.M. And this year, AMERIND Risk shared the proceeds with the American Indian Graduate Center (AIGC).

AMERIND’s portion of the proceeds will benefit the AMERIND Risk Family Emergency Fund, which assists uninsured Native American families who experience hardship due to unforeseen disasters/loss to their home. AIGC, a national provider of scholarships to the American Indian and Alaskan Native students pursuing graduate and professional degrees, benefitted equally in the proceeds of this year’s fundraiser.

Derek Valdo, CEO, and Nancy Harjo Serna, director of marketing, for AMERIND Risk, presented AIGC with a $6,700 check to contribute to the cultural and economic wellbeing for individuals and tribes through graduate education, on July 2 at the Santa Ana Golf Club.

Joan V. Currier, COO of AIGC said, “I am so happy to be here today representing AIGC, the recipient of your generous and important support. Over the past 10 years, I have worked with some very talented colleagues at AIGC to expand the recognition of the American Indian Graduate Center and the scholars. It is important that Indian communities and talented Native students are aware of both the opportunities within higher education, both financial and other. I proudly recognize AMERIND Risk for being one of the first to step up as a valuable partner. Under the leadership of Mr. Derek Valdo, and with support from Nancy Harjo Serna, Tina Duncan and many others, AMERIND has very generously responded, and has become one of our most appreciated ‘go to’ guys.”

AMERIND Risk would like to thank the 120 participants who enjoyed a great day of golf and contributed to these worthy causes. They also thank all of the sponsors who made the event a success!

We invite you to the 12th Protecting Tribal Families Golf Fundraiser, which is hosted annually in April.
