A slimmed-down Alec Baldwin took the stage at the Screen Actors Guild Awards on Sunday night to accept the award for male actor in a television comedy, reported USA Today.
The '30 Rock' star told Entertainment Tonight that he was diagnosed as pre-diabetic in May, and has since drastically changed his diet. Baldwin has lost 30 pounds since his diagnosis.
"I gave up sugar. I lost 30 pounds in four months. It's amazing," he told Access Hollywood.
Baldwin has made exercise a regular part of his lifestyle. While USA Today muses his yoga instructor girlfriend, Hilaria Thomas, 27, might have helped inspire his weight loss, Baldwin says he doesn't hit the mat often.
"I do Pilates and spin, but I don't do as much yoga as I'd like," Baldwin admitted. "When we're shooting and I can't work out, I just have to eat less. So I'm very conscious of that."
For 53-year-old Baldwin, sweets were the main culprit. "[S]ugar was the real killer for me—that was the problem," he said.
Diabetes has made national headlines lately due to celebrity chef Paul Deen's announcement that she was diagnosed with the disease three years ago. The Food Network host joins a list of celebrities with diabetes including Nick Jonas, Tommy Lee, Salma Hayek, Larry King and Halle Berry, reported MNN.
