Two Upstate New York hotels operated by Seneca Gaming Corp. received AAA's Four Diamond rating—an honor only awarded to 3.8 percent of the 59,000 North American and Caribbean establishments rated by AAA, reported James Fink in Business First.
For the seventh year straight, Seneca Niagara Casino & Hotel in Niagara Falls earned the highest rating. The Seneca Allegany Casino in Salamanca has won the ranking the past four years.
Last year, 14 hotels in Upstate New York were recognized with the Four Diamond Award. The honor is bestowed to upscale hotels in all areas that provide superior accommodations that are continually more refined and stylish, according to the association's guidelines.
To achieve Four Diamond status, hotels must first pass strict criteria and pass on-site, unannounced evaluations of lodgings and restaurants. The tourism editors scrutinize cleanliness, ambiance, amenities and service, said Fink.
In early 2012, Seneca Gaming completed a $8.4 million room renovation project at Seneca Niagara Casino & Hotel, making it the largest hotel in Western New York.
At Seneca Allegany Casino & Hotel, construction is underway on a new $53 million hotel tower with 200 rooms, slated for completion next winter. The first hotel tower, opened in 2007, features 212 rooms.
