A vow for Indian health


South Dakota tribal leaders have listened for years to federal officials who promise to confront the challenge of providing adequate health care to Native Americans, primarily through the chronically underfunded Indian Health Service. U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius is the latest to make such claims. She says she will launch a new multi-year effort to improve health care for Native Americans, which she calls a "historic failure."
