As the 2008 election season nears its climax, Oklahoma tribes are helping candidates get in office, assisting organizations lobbying for American Indian issues and, in some cases, hedging their bets.
Of Oklahoma tribes, the Chickasaw Nation has donated the most money to candidates and political action committees during the 2008 election cycle. The Cherokee Nation follows.
Rounding out the top five givers are the Choctaw Nation, Osage Nation and Shawnee Tribe.
