Kanesatake Mohawk territory northwest of Montreal is being raided by 500 officers in a "major police operation," CBC News reports.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) and the Sûreté du Québec are executing 13 search warrants targeting "a large drug-trafficking network dealing principally in marijuana" in the territory, police told CBC News.

"Raids were also being done in Akwesasne and Oka, the municipality next to Kanesatake, as well as in other towns north of Montreal," the CBC said, adding that police were expecting to make 50 arrests.

APTN reports that the raids also involved Akwesasne and Cornwall, Ontario, communities as well.
