Events to commemorate the victims and survivors of the massacre at Sand Creek will be held November 27, 28 and 29. Events will begin Nov. 27 with a Pipe Ceremony at the site, a Sunrise Ceremony will start the day of Nov. 28 and end with a candlelight vigil at the Denver Art Museum at 7:00 pm. A Spiritual Healing Run/Walk will be held on Nov. 29, the 144th anniversary date of this tragic event in Colorado history. This year’s event will be the 10th anniversary of the Spiritual Healing Run/Walk, which was started by Sand Creek massacre survivors’ descendents as a way to address the horrific event of Nov. 29, 1864 and help people find solace in a healing process.
