The men of the Brown Otter Singers banged their drums loudly, singing a song in their native language about the struggles of their people, according to group member Harlan Brown. “It’s making known of their plight,” said Brown, a member of the Meskwaki tribe. “It reminds us of who we are. It lets the general population known we are the first Americans.”
