10/09/08 - San Manuel Indians to host powwow on Friday at CSUSB

The San Manuel Band of Mission Indians is hosting its annual powwow at Cal State San Bernardino beginning at 4 p.m. Friday. About 4,000 people are expected to attend the three-day event, and 300 to 400 of them will be members of American Indian tribes from across North America and from tribes from as far away as Alaska and Canada. Registration opens at 4 p.m., followed by a blessing of the grounds ceremony on the lower athletic fields, where the powwow is being held.
